5 List Graphics you should be posting on Instagram

People love lists. It's a fact!

Because many of us are exposed to so much information daily, our minds often end up overstimulated…🤯

Lists help us stay organized; they help us remember things and make any information easier to consume and follow. A also list feels 'definitive' and often clears up any uncertainty.

If you're not including lists as part of your Instagram content strategy, then you are missing out on providing your audience with save-worthy and share-worthy content!

Here are 5 of my favourite types of list graphics that you can be creating:

1. A numbered list:

A numbered list is the ultimate type of list graphic that you can create. The numbered order can help people follow something step-by-step, however, a checklist or an ‘unordered’ list can also work in doing the same job.

Important:

To make a list graphic effective - add a heading to explain what your audience should use the list for or how it solves a particular problem. Structuring an attention-grabbing heading is just as important as the list itself.

You can also add sub-headings and decorative elements (such as emojis) to make your list more eye-catching. Beware of making your list too long or too busy. If you have a lot of content to add, it's best to split your idea into two posts (and post them on different days).

2. An icon list:

Canva (both free & pro versions) has a large variety of icons that you can search for to reference your content. The advantage of using icons is that it can make your design look more attractive, professional and cool. Using icons in front of your list content will help people consume and understand your list easier. However, the challenge is finding the right icons that all tie in together on the page and look 'unified'.

3. “Instead-of” list:

A great way to make this design more eye-catching is to include a cross: ❌ and tick: ✅ icons. These can be oversized, you can use your brand colours inside the heading, and you can also add a subtle background or a call to action at the bottom. You may notice that I included a simple sentence at the bottom to explain my point in my above design. As always, beware of overwhelming your design with too much content.

4. Double-slide list:

A double-slide list is a clever way of simply adding a ‘front cover’ to a regular list. You're able to grab your audience's attention with a bold & exciting heading and image, which will make people more interested, and they will swipe to see the full list on the second page. Another advantage is that it helps you stick to a 'theme' if you're trying to post more consistent graphics on your IG page. It also allows you to add more variety to your content.

5. Carousel List:

A carousel list is possibly the most engaging type of list. If you utilise all 10 slides (the maximum that you can have in a carousel) and make your list valuable and in-depth, then you’ll engage your audience in your post for a maximum amount of time. This should be your goal.

WHY is this important?🧐

Ultimately, you need to be able to keep your audience on your page and consume your post for the longest amount of time possible. Instagram will recognise this and deem your post as 'valuable'. In return, you should be rewarded with more reach for your post.

Hope you found this useful! If you use any of these ideas, make sure you tag me in your posts or stories so I check out your designs!
